Reports claim Pulis and Beattie in Stoke bust-up

Widespread reports on Monday morning claim that Stoke manager Tony Pulis and striker James Beattie were involved in a physical confrontation following Saturday's defeat to Arsenal.

Goals from Andrei Arshavin and Aaron Ramsey were enough to defeat the Potters 2-0 at Emirates Stadium and it is claimed that a row erupted in the away dressing room following the final whistle.

It is reported that Pulis instructed his players to come in for training on Monday despite previously indicating that the squad could have a day off and a Christmas party in London at the weekend.

The Sun claims that Beattie "protested on behalf of his team-mates" and that "punches were thrown" as the two were pulled apart.

Indeed, the Daily Mail also alleges that Pulis aimed a butt at his striker, who joined the club from Sheffield United in January 2009.

Stoke have not made any comment on the allegations which have brought Beattie's future at the club under the microscope.

With reports suggesting that Stoke have launched an internal investigation, it has emerged that Beattie did not train with his team-mates on Monday, although he was present at the training ground for around 30 minutes.
